Colorado Springs, Colo.

– A $10 million renovation of the popular Denver Springs Elevation District is getting a green light.

City leaders announced Wednesday the $10.5 million project will begin work on a new attraction and begin construction on a plaza in 2018.

The new attraction, located on top of the elevation on Colorado Springs Blvd., will be the citys first permanent attraction that will be powered by renewable energy.

The project is expected to be completed by late 2018.

City officials hope the attraction will bring tourists to the area by making it easier to navigate the area, which is now largely covered in snow.
