The water was rising.
But not as fast as the scientists expected.
They thought the water would rise by 2 to 4 inches over the next month, which would give the state a week to cool off the heat.
But on Tuesday, they got another shock.
The water in the lake hit a record high temperature of 106 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the state Department of Water Resources.
The state water agency said it had received reports of large fish in the water, some of which could weigh up to a ton.
It also reported that a fish called a breckenburn was found dead at the bottom of the lake.
State and federal officials have been monitoring the lake for years and said they’ve never seen anything like it.
But water levels have been rising in the Colorado River, where Colorado Springs is located.
In 2011, the lake was at the same level as Lake Mead in the United States, which is one of the most productive lakes in the world.
That year, water levels were at a record low.
In 2012, water was at a more than 10-year low.
The new water levels could pose a bigger threat than the lake, according a state water official.
The Colorado River is a massive freshwater system that flows from the Great Basin in Utah down to the Pacific Northwest.
It is the source of drinking water for about 80 million people in the U.S., according to federal officials.
The river runs through much of southern Colorado, from Fort Collins in the north to the Grand Canyon in the south.
Colorado’s lakes are among the most acidic lakes in America, and the water has high levels of dissolved oxygen, which causes fish and other aquatic creatures to die.
“These fish are dying off, and I mean, there’s so many, and they’re not even dying,” said Dr. Daniel W. Loeffler, a water quality scientist with the Colorado Department of Public Health.
“I’ve never heard of anything like this in the state of Colorado, where it’s been in the 70s, 80s and 90s.”
In 2016, the Colorado river hit record levels.
Some experts say this water is the reason for the record lake levels.
But some fish are migrating out of the river, and more water is flowing through the lake from the Colorado to the Great Lakes.
So the lake levels could continue to rise.
This could happen even if the lake doesn’t rise as fast.
“We could see another one in 10 years, maybe,” said Tom DeRose, a retired meteorologist at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
“The lakes are going to continue to get higher and higher.
